Week Two of My Fighter Diet Transformation Challenge & My First Virtual Race!

Week Two of the Fighter Diet

My second week on the Fighter Diet has gone well overall.  I did have some moments of wanting to give up and dive into a bagel slathered in peanut butter, but I was good and held strong!!

I lost 7lbs the first week, and I knew that weight loss would slow down after that first week and it did, I lost just one pound this second week.  But that is okay, a pound is a pound, and I am down a total of 8 pounds!!  Plus I am down a total of 6 inches from when I started!!
I can't wait to see what will happen after the full 12 weeks on The Fighter Diet!!

My First Virtual Run!

I ran my first virtual race (5 miles) this weekend!  The run was hosted by Mommy, Run Fast.  I enjoyed myself, had my dog "Rosie" along for the run and she had a blast too!
I am excited for my next virtual run, The Great Cupcake Run,  next weekend!!  Can't wait! :)
I think I'll be looking for some more virtual runs this fall.  If you know of any virtual runs, please let me know the links.  Thanks!! :)

Ok, so I don't run fast, but I do try

August Goals - weekly update

I am doing well with some of my goals that I set for myself for August, but with others I have not been as good.

First, the good.
- I am running more frequently, well more walking than running, but I want to take it slow and build back up into full running.  I really don't want to hurt my hip from going at it too fast like I did last year :( I really missed running when I couldn't.  I am glad I got my Mizuno running shoes!  They are awesome for running!!

-I am keeping to "Sara's -Use it 2 Lose It" challenge.  The goal for August is to walk or run 36 miles (I had been doing a big ol' 0 before this challenge) and to log 120 minutes of strength training per week in August.
So far, I have walked/ran 8.5 miles (27.5 miles left to go), and I have logged 4.5 hours of strength training last week.

-I am prepping for my virtual run on Labour Day by doing walk/run intervals and slowly adding longer periods of running and less of walking.  I'll get there! :)

Now for the bad.
-I am not doing a plank a day.  No excuses, I know planks are great exercises, but
It's that simple - I hate planks!  But, I promise I will try harder this week.

August Fitness Goals

At the beginning of the month (or the year), I have great plans and goals, but then a few weeks later, I have often fallen off the wagon.

This month, I am blogging my goals for August so I can be held accountable by my readers.

My goals for August are:

-to run more frequently
I had stopped running a year ago due to an injury, and now have been a little scared to really start up again.

-finish "Sara -Use it to lose it"'s  August challenge (https://www.facebook.com/SaraUseIt2LoseIt/events) I have challenged myself to running 36 miles (9 miles per week) in August and 120+ minutes per week of strength training
The 120 min of strength training per week is no problem.  I already do 1 to 1.5hrs of strength per day 5 or 6 days a week.  It's the miles I have to work on.

-prep for a Labour Day 5 mile virtual run hosted by Mommy, Run Fast
One more goal to aim for with my running.  I really LOVED running before my hip injury, I just have to get back at it and build up my cardio endurance.

-do a #plankaday
This one will be hard because I absolutely HATE planks.  No ifs ands or buts about it - I do not like planks, but they are a great ab exercise.  I am hoping that if I get better at planks, I will like them???  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Those are my goals, and I plan on blogging at the end of each week to let you in on my progress.  Hopefully this will keep me on track knowing I have to be accountable!!
