Week #2 Check-In

So after my second week with my new training plan & diet, I have only lost 1 pound.  I am a tad discouraged, but I know that weight loss has its ups and downs and I just have to stick with it.  My problem is that I am impatient, and get discouraged.  I just have to keep on doing what I am doing and not waiver.
Easier said than done for me, but I can't let myself slide.  I am sure glad that I have my Friday night cheat meals to look forward to - if I didn't have that, I would be off bingeing right now (lol).

Hopefully spring is just around the corner, and it will be nicer for going outside for runs!  I love running outside and look forward to my runs, but if I have to run on the treadmill, I can easily talk myself out of a workout.   Here's to spring coming soon!!

Who else is looking forward to spring?

I'm glad I have Energybits to help give me energy for my workouts!

2013 - My Year in Fitness

2013 was quite a year for me fitness wise, and I had some firsts.  I started running again this year and ran my first ever race.  This is something for the kid in my who hated gym class with a passion and did everything she could to get out of running laps around the field at school.  I ran my first 5k with my daughter, enjoyed it so much that we ran 4 more 5k races this year. Both of my daughters joined me in doing a Color Run this year.  In 2014 we plan on running some more, and maybe even a 10k.

In the gym I made some great gains with my weight workouts, and even started working with an online trainer who helped me to push myself more than I would have on my own.  She made me realize that in order to make gains, I have to go past my comfort zone.  I can't wait to see what gains I make in 2014!!

I also became a brand ambassador for Born Raw Gym Clothing, and for ENERGYbits.  I was so honored that they wanted me to be on their team.

Here's to a great 2014!!

How I Got Started on my Fitness Journey

I have always been heavy, I have struggled all of my life with my weight.  Even when I am quite active, my weight has always been a problem.  I've crash dieted, and then proceeded to gain all of the weight back - plus extra.  That is until I was selected to be part of a fitness challenge on Fighter Diet's Facebook page last summer.  I was a little unsure, but decided to give it a try.

To find out about the program that got me my start in getting fit and healthy, click here: Fighter Diet

Fighter Diet worked for me - I didn't go hungry, and I had workouts all set out for me from Pauline's ebooks.  It was great to see progress, and I am still seeing progress!
I highly recommend Fighter Diet to anyone who is not sure where to start with either diet and/or fitness.  It is a great plan, and it works!!

New Online Trainer & Injury Update

I was lucky enough to win a month of online personal training from personal trainer and bodybuilder, Karen Nolan-Evans. Karen also just won  Miss Physique BNBF Wales 2013.
I am excited for this opportunity, but also a little scared!!  Lol!  I have been working out on my own for over a year now, but with a personal trainer, I'll be monitored (and pushed if needed!) and be accountable - exactly what I need right now.

If any of you are interested in trying out an online personal trainer, I urge you to send Karen a message on her Facebook page (click here) or email her at KNolanEvans@aol.co.uk

She offers many different options to meet your needs and goals:

I will keep everyone updated on my progress working with Karen, and post on my blog here and on my Facebook page My Journey to Getting Fit and Healthy.  Be sure to check back often, or better yet, sign up to follow my blog (the link is on the right hand side of this page).

INJURY UPDATE

My plantar faciitis, as I have mentioned in my last couple of blogs, is healing quite nicely.  I have been doing exercises, rolling a ball underneath my foot, new insoles in my running shoes, and of course, KT Tape. I did a run yesterday and I had no pain during or after. Even waking up this morning and walking on it, there was no pain.  Yay!
I had a fun run yesterday, my daughter rode the horse, and I ran and walked along beside.  We went down the road, through some fields, and through trails in a neighbour's woodlot.  It was a fun time (except for the deerflies that kept eating us).

Highs and Lows of Workouts & Puppy Update

HIGH & LOW WORKOUTS

Today was a bad workout day.  Do you ever have one of those?  Nothing specific, but I didn't have that euphoric feeling during or when I finished.  I did a couple of new lifts with some half-decent weight, but I wasn't happy with them; I didn't feel as if I "nailed" it.  It left me with a down feeling all afternoon, so I took my frustrations out on the stationary bike.

On Friday I had an awesome workout, even with a lifting injury from my deadlifts :)  I hit a personal record on my deadlifts and on my next workout, I hit a personal record for bench press.  I was on a high, I felt awesome and I was pumped to really hit it at my new workout.  Then today, for whatever reason, my heart wasn't in it.  I won't give up, and I plan on hitting it hard on my next workout.

PUPPY UPDATE

Remember my orphan puppies that my husband and I had to bottle feed over Christmas? Here they are all grown up and ready for their new homes!!  They grew up so fast, and it will be hard to let them go because we got so attached to them - we were mom and dad to the little babies.

Aren't they cute?

7 weeks old

Pups at just a few days old.
